A beautiful garden with great potential, however a large trampoline dominated the space. My conclusion to this design conundrum was to sink the trampoline to ground level, where it’s still a source of as much fun for the children (whose bouncing heads are now visible from the kitchen window!) without the trampoline detracting from the garden’s visual ease.
This garden was given to me as a fairly blank canvas. Again my desire to design a journey to the bottom of the garden was key. I wanted to create a tranquil seating area accompanied by the sound of water.
The pergola allowed me to fill in the void created between an extremely tall, proud oak tree and the garden’s ground level, thus keeping the eye focused on the middle ground.
I painted all the fences black to reduce their visual limits, seen as boundary lines. The black fences also served as a backdrop to highlight the garden’s colourful plants.
